Something called the "Subway Series" begins tonight. I've heard it's no big deal, really; the words "contrived," "foolish" and "money-grubbing scheme" have been used in this house to describe the twice-annual series between the Mets and Yankees. Thing is, Thelma is a die-hard Met fan and Louise is a fan of both teams...somehow. (I'm led to believe being a fan of both the Mets and the Yankees is like going to temple on Saturday and Mass on Sunday, but there are those who do, so who am I to object?) Aaanyway, Louise still manages to talk smack about the Mets if the Yankees beat them, even though she claims to like both teams, and Thelma gets bummed out if the hated Yankees beat her beloved Mets, and I hear a whole lot of noise and nonsense all weekend. I have a Mets cap (see photo), which I wore a lot last Fall when the Mets went so far in the post-season, but I've been told I'm not to wear it during the Subway Series 'cause I shouldn't choose sides. (Guess which one of my guardians told me that?) So I sit here hatless and wish we could all agree on a team. Oh that's right, the WNBA season starts tomorrow. Sigh...it's gonna be like living through a 24-hour loop of "SportsCenter" all summer long. (Minus the stupid "BOO-yah!"s.)
P.S. Go Liberty!
