"Stray Pride"

After the laundry was done, we went to the "Stray Pride" event at Ginger's, a local drinking establishment. Folks from the Brooklyn Animal Foster Network were there w/about a dozen dogs and cats up for adoption. Louise has been itching to be a foster dog parent for a couple of years now, particularly after Hurricane Katrina in 2006, and she signed us up to take care of a dog until she finds a Forever Home. Both my folks love dogs and they take terrific care of me, so I think they'll be great foster dog parents, but I was kinda sore that I wasn't consulted; as a matter of fact, Louise snuck outside to talk to the foster lady while Thelma & I were in the bar. So the BAFN might call us soon so they can screen us or leave a foundling on our doorstep or something.

I was so excited at Ginger's, I overturned the water dish the bartender gave us within moments of sitting outside in the garden. I kept trying to jump up on the picnic table and barked at the lazy smaller dogs lying under the tables, so we went back inside & sat by the pool table. Problem was, some folks were playing & wouldn't bounce one of the pool balls on the floor for me to catch. I tried a couple of times to climb up there and grab one myself, but Thelma & Louise kept pulling me back. We moved again & they sat me down between their bar stools & I was the biggest dog in the place. I'd been shampooed the day before, so I smelled nice and b/c Thelma combed & brushed me right before we left, I looked sleek and soft. So yeah, I had lots of hands on me. Big wags! Then someone sang karaoke ("Since You Been Gone," but the singer was no Kelly Clarkson) & I barked along, which the bartender thought was hilarious. People got so excited (and buzzed) that by the end of the raffle drawing, they were chanting my name!

Thelma & Louise both won a couple of raffle prizes, I got pet & hugged a lot and a couple of animals got adopted, so it was a great afternoon.

Foster animals RAWK…believe that!
